Casablanca

Arguably one of the best ever movies of all time. This movie doesn't need colour to vividly describe the complex relationship of Rick Blaine (Humprey Bogart) and Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman) and how their past comes to a head while in unoccupied Africa, more specificly the city of Casablanca. This movie is filled with so many great lines that total eclipses most other 'greats' that only have one or two memorable lines.

This movie is never boring and constanly holds onto you as the viewer and multiple viewings are encouraged, they're expected! Even watching tv shows and movies today there are lines used that have been taken from the script, lines like 'pick up the usual suspects' has been is too many to count. This obviously shows just how excellent this movie really is as it hasn't lost any of its flair since its release in 1949.

A great watch and a worthy winner of its 3 Oscars.
He is a trailer to tease those tastebuds.

Whats New

I have just added a few of my favourite blogs that aren't by ISYS100 students and also commented on one of the blogs but I was unable to post the link of the exact location of my comment as it went for like 5 lines so instead there is a screenshot of my comment. The blog I posted on was Octobers Very Own and you'll find that in the left sidebar under favourite links.

The Men Who Stare At Goats

The title encapsulates the essence of this movie, WTF! I mean really how random does this sound, and the movie doesn't disappoint when going in with a mindset of anything is possible. With a government sponsored army group of elite known as new earth army being part of the top secret 'project Jedi'. Yes this does make them Jedi warriors.

With an all star cast of George Clooney, Kevin Spacey, Jeff Bridges and Ewan McGregor to name a few this mind bending experience takes part in the war zone of Iraq and without giving away too much more, things go wrong as would happen when two people that use their minds as weapons go against each other as foes.

This movie is filled with dark humour that may not wet every ones appetite but certainly does cause a few hearty chuckles throughout this amazing adventure when each next event is a absurd as the next. Clooney is a stand out in my mind but as an lover of film, one can't let the other three go by without a mention. They held their roles very well and for most this performance was the first as that kind of character.

If you enjoy movies that make you laugh at the absurdity of it all then this may just be for you and if the above doesn't tickle your fancy then you would be best to lift the bat and let it go through to the keeper as it wouldn't be a far cry to see how people didn't enjoy this desert drama.

The Blind Side

Yes it does seem possibly a little strange that the first movie i decided to post about was this one. Well even though it does have that 'feel good/chick flick' cross vibe to the trailer it really goes beyond the stereotype of a person down on their luck making it through to be rich/famous and/or successful.

This movie is based on a true story with slideshow during the closing credits of the real people involved but also the lead actress Sandra Bullock who plays Leigh Anne Tuohy, won herself an oscar for 'Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role', said in an interview after production that they stayed as close to the book as possible.

This role of hers is by far a stand out when looking at her career with her very convincing southern accent just being one of her many outstanding attributes in this role.
Quinton Aaron plays Micheal Oher in his first lead role after appearing a few times in Law and Order and some other movies that werent as nearly successful as this film has been.
Throughout the movie there didnt seem to be many major issues that jumped out at me as the viewer but the dad did seem to annoy me at times but i cant seem to pin point why.

Overall the film is a MUST WATCH, it doesnt seem to matter if you cant stand Sandra Bullock or love everything that she does because this movie is so well rounded her performance is just a one of the many parts that make this a real enjoyment to watch.

I love this guy and his songs. Anyway, here is some facts about Jason Mraz.

Mraz's international breakthrough came with the release of the first single from the album, "I'm Yours". The song was a huge commercial success in the US with it receiving a triple-Platinum certification from the RIAA for sales of over three million. Muse

Muse is an ok band that i like. But I only like 1 or 2 songs. Here is a quick description.

"Muse are an English alternative rock band from Teignmouth, Devon. Since their inception, the band has been composed of Matthew Bellamy (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Christopher Wolstenholme (bass, backing vocals), and Dominic Howard (drums and percussion). Air Supply

Well, I grew up listening to songs performed by this duo, and they will always remain as one of the old time favorites of mine.

Air Supply are a soft rock duo who had a succession of hits worldwide through the late 1970s and early 1980s. It consists of British guitarist and vocalist Graham Russell (born Graham Cyril Russell, 11 June 1950, Sherwood, Nottingham, England) and Australian lead vocalist Russell Hitchcock (born Russell Charles Hitchcock, 15 June 1949, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia), plus various accompanying musicians and singers they hire from time-to-time to augment their sounds. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Supply#2000s)

Some songs that I still listen to occasionally includes All Out Of Love, Making Love Out Of Nothing At All, Chances, Two Less Lonely People In The World and Lost In Love.

Here's a video of their song Making Love Out Of Nothing At All for your viewing (or listening) pleasure.

Red Hot Chili Peppers

This band has been around for quite a long time, formed in 1983 in California. They have produced many albums through their progress into more mainstream rock.

Made up of four members with Anthony Kiedis for vocals, Josh Klinghoffer on lead guitar, Micheal 'flea' Balzary on bass and Chad Smith for drums.
This band has gone through numerous stages of which ill suggest a few songs for your listening pleasure to see what stage/s spark your fancy.
1. Love Rollercoaster
2. Californication
3. Give It Away
4. The Zephyr Song
5. Snow (Hey oh)

These are just a few but they are an AWESOME band and well worth giving them a listen if you haven't ever heard them.

Drake

Hey thought id post a feature on an artist as well and ill tweet our progress soon.
Drake is an upcoming rapper signed to Young Money Entertainment. His most recent mixtape 'So Far Gone' sparked a bidding war by several major labels wanting to sign Drake. He is due to release his debut solo album 'Thank Me Later' late May this year.
I have posted a video of his debut performance of his new single 'Over'
Enjoy

The White Stripes

To help Chean kick start our blog, I thought that I might as well provide some input too. The White Stripes is an American rock dup, formed in 1997 in Detroit, Michigan. The Group consists of songwriter Jack White(vocals, guitar, piano, and once bass) and his ex-wife Meg White (drums and occasional vocals). They are famous as part of the garage rock revival scene. And have produced a few albums including White Blood Cells and Elephant.

Although I am not as crazy about them as 2-3years ago, I still occasionally listen to their songs. I recommend "Seven Nation Army" for starters. They may be a little alternative and out there, but they're still good.

Ill embed some videos later if I can find out how :P

The Monster Ball Tour

Just so to kick start things. Considering that we have pretty much decided to have our blog centered around music (and maybe movies?), here's something relating to Lady Gaga. To those who may not know, Lady Gaga (aka Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta)is a rising American recording artist, best known in her exploits in Electronics/Dance genre with her hit albums entitled The Fame and The Fame Monster. Some of the popular hit singles of hers includes "Just Dance", "Poker Face", "Paparazzi" and "Bad Romance".

Anyway, getting on the topic, Lady Gaga is currently in Australia for the concert tour named The Monster Ball Tour. Although the concert is expected to be a promotion of the songs from her second album, The Fame Monster, one could also expect some hit songs from the debut album The Fame to be performed.

For more details of the concert times and locations, click here.

Blog Topic?

Hey Sasha, Chean. Long time no see man. So we have decided on music and movies? I am a pretty easy going guy, so i have no real preferences. What do you guys think?

Story Board/Future Direction

Hey guys,

Here is our storyboard and blog post about the future direction of our blog. In here we will discuss layout, what gadgets to include, color, etc. Please post and discuss these topics.

Future Direction:
The topic will be music and movie for our blog posts and similar posts about these topics. The colour and font scheme should be interesting, but also be easy to read for long periods of time. For each post we should attempt to include a visual such as a video or picture. This covers most of the basic features of our blog.

I also wanted to ask if this template is what you guys wanted. Feel free to change and experiment yourselves, I wont get annoyed if I log on to find the background changed.

Thanks,

Xing

By the way, don't forget to post or do SOMETHING on the blog be it comments, getting followers, etc.

{EDIT}

Here is the storyboard that we have prepared. This was the original idea, but changes and improvements have led to our now much COOLER version!!
